Guardian Insurance
Advice curator
Navigating the world of life insurance often involves overwhelming amounts of copy and outdated resources. Guardian set out to solve this problem, getting people the answers they need through a simple questionnaire that delivers personalized, tailored resources.
I had the opportunity to work on this project from concepting and storyboarding to producing the site as the primary designer.

HELPING PEOPLE NAVIGATE LIFE'S MAJOR MOMENTS

We knew we wanted the questionnaire experience to feel like a journey that leads users to a clear path forward, and we wanted to illustrate this journey in the design.

We categorized user's concerns into four themes, and then tied these to a storytelling flow that takes you through the questions before arriving to a tailored results page.
Working with an illustrator, we used compelling visuals and subtle animation to connect with users in a playful, human way that is unique to the Guardian brand.

STORYBOARDING THE JOURNEY
The initial concept was that of an actual path that starts from a place of uncertainty and leads users to a clear way forward. I created the storyboards to illustrate how our vision of this journey could come to life.
In this initial iteration, users start the quiz on a foggy forest, and as they answer the questions, the fog lifts and they arrive at a sunny clear where their personalized results are delivered.

The final round of storyboards placed users at the same starting point, but depending on which concern they had (family, retirement...) their path and landing place would vary.
The final design follows a similar flow where each theme has slightly different elements.

A CURATED FEED OF RESOURCES JUST FOR YOU
After completing the quiz, users land on a curated feed that delivers helpful resources, such as articles and podcasts, in easy to navigate blocks of content. Through a personal tone of voice and a lighthearted look that feels supportive and personable, we set out to position Guardian as the go-to guide for people planning out their future.
